Giving back to the Community

On, November 20, 2009 Sala Family Dentistry held Nevada’s first Dentistry From the Heart, free dental day. With the help of Dr. Scott Boyden, DDS, MD and many volunteers we were able to treat 113 people from the community that do not have dental insurance or who could not afford to go to a dentist.  In 2001, Dr. Vincent Monticciolo founded the non-profit organization, Dentistry From the Heart, in New Port Richey, Florida, after realizing that many of Americans are without dental insurance and it is a growing problem. In 2009 alone, Dentistry from the Heart events were held in 37 states across the country with more than 100 host locations, treating over 12,000 patients by providing over 3 million dollars of free dentistry!

We believe passionately in being active participants in the community we have served since 1974.  We provide support to organizations that are the fabric of the community. Our goal is to help make the Reno-Sparks area a better place to live.

From 2008 through 2009, we have contributed $91,738 to our community. Here are some of the organizations that received contributions:

• Dentistry From The Heart – over $34,000 of free dentistry to Reno community
• Northern Nevada Dental Society –donated dentistry for children
• St. Mary’s - NICU
• Relay for life
• Children’s Miracle Network
