Giving Back with Smiles for FREEdom 2017

Here at Sala Family Dentistry, we truly value our amazing patients and the relationships we’ve built over the years. We wouldn’t be here without them, and so we’re constantly striving to give back to the community that has given us so much. Since 2008 we’ve donated over $1,182,000 back to the community, and we don’t have plans to slow down anytime soon, and Smiles for FREEdom lets us do just that.

Right here in Reno in 2015, Kandice Simpkins and Sala Family Dentistry founded Smiles for FREEdom, a program that gives free dental care to veterans and members of the armed forces. Since the first event here in Reno, the program has spread nationally into seven states and has given dental care to over 120 veterans with over $188,600 in free dental services provided (and counting).

A Day of Smiles

On September 21, 2017, we hosted the 3rd annual Smiles for FREEdom event at the Sala Family Dentistry office. The morning began with a warm welcome from Kandice, the founder, followed by the National Anthem played beautifully by Paul Lenz.

Once the opening ceremonies had concluded, no time was wasted in providing great dental care to the eager patients. By the end of the day, a total of 39 veterans had received free care and over $91,900 in free services were donated. “It was a really awesome day for everyone here,” Kandice gushed. “There were a lot of really happy tears from both the recipients and volunteers.”

We are so lucky and grateful to be able to hold this event and give back to those who have served our nation. Days like this give us reason to wake up and be excited to come to work. We also would like to thank all of those who volunteered to lend their skills and services through the day. It is because of your generosity that this program is possible!
