When you visit the dentist, you deserve care that feels thoughtful, current, and personalized to your needs. Dentistry is always evolving, from new technology and materials to updated techniques that can make treatment more comfortable, precise, and efficient.
That’s why continuing education is such an important part of our culture at Sala Family Dentistry. Our team is committed to learning, growing, and bringing that knowledge back to the patients we care for every day.
Recently, our team completed an advanced Endodontic Continuing Education course focused on root canal treatment. The training was led by Dr. Jianing “Jenny” He, a respected endodontist, educator, researcher, and Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics.
From preventive visits to restorative care, Invisalign, cosmetic dentistry, and root canal treatment, our goal is to help patients feel informed, comfortable, and confident in their care.
Why Continuing Education Matters in Dentistry
Dental care does not stay the same forever. Techniques improve, technology advances, and research helps dentists better understand how to care for patients more effectively.
Continuing education helps our team stay connected to those improvements. It gives us the opportunity to sharpen our skills, learn from experienced specialists, and continue providing care that reflects current best practices.
Ongoing Dental Training Helps Us Focus On:
- Patient comfort
- Clear communication
- Clinical precision
- Treatment planning
- Updated techniques
- Long-term oral health
- More confident patient care
For patients, continuing education means our team is always working to improve the experience you have in the dental chair.
How Ongoing Dental Training Supports Patient Comfort
We know that many patients feel nervous about dental treatment, especially when it comes to procedures like root canals. Education helps us better explain what’s happening, answer questions clearly, and guide patients through treatment with more confidence.
When our team continues to learn, we can bring that knowledge into everyday patient care.
Patient-Focused Dental Care Can Help You:
- Better understand your treatment options
- Feel more comfortable asking questions
- Know what to expect during your visit
- Make informed decisions about your oral health
- Feel supported before, during, and after treatment
Our goal is not just to provide treatment. It’s to make sure you feel cared for throughout the process.
What Our Root Canal Training Means for Patients
Our recent Endodontic CE course focused on root canal treatment, which is an important part of saving natural teeth when infection or inflammation affects the inside of the tooth.
Root canals have an outdated reputation, but modern treatment is designed to relieve pain, treat infection, and help preserve your natural tooth whenever possible.
Advanced Root Canal Training Helps Us Continue Improving In:
- Diagnosing tooth pain
- Understanding endodontic concerns
- Planning treatment carefully
- Supporting patient comfort
- Communicating clearly about root canal care
- Helping patients feel less anxious about treatment
This training allows our team to continue building knowledge around a procedure that many patients have questions about.

Understanding Root Canal Treatment
A root canal may be recommended when the inside of a tooth becomes infected, inflamed, or damaged. This can happen because of deep decay, cracks, trauma, or untreated dental problems.
During root canal treatment, the infected or inflamed tissue inside the tooth is removed, the area is cleaned, and the tooth is restored so it can continue functioning.
Root Canal Treatment May Help:
- Relieve tooth pain
- Treat infection
- Save a natural tooth
- Restore chewing comfort
- Prevent infection from spreading
- Avoid tooth extraction when possible
The goal is to help protect your oral health while preserving as much of your natural smile as possible.
Signs You May Need a Root Canal in Reno
Tooth pain should not be ignored, especially if it lingers or gets worse. Not every toothache means you need a root canal, but certain symptoms should be evaluated by a dentist.
Schedule a Dental Visit If You Notice:
- Lingering sensitivity to hot or cold
- Pain when chewing or biting
- Swelling near one tooth
- A darkened tooth
- A pimple-like bump on the gums
- Throbbing tooth pain
- Pain that wakes you up at night
- A cracked or damaged tooth
The sooner we evaluate the tooth, the sooner we can recommend the right next step.
