Dr. Joel Smith was born and raised in southern Louisiana and proudly attended Louisiana State University for both his undergraduate and dental education—Geaux Tigers! While in dental school, Dr. Smith led multiple mission trips to the Dominican Republic and spent his weekends volunteering at local homeless shelters in New Orleans, providing essential dental care to underserved communities. These experiences shaped not only his clinical skills but also his deep commitment to serving others.

Dr. Smith’s approach to dentistry is rooted in advice from his father: “If you treat every patient the same, you treat every patient wrong.” He firmly believes that each patient brings a unique set of needs, goals, and life circumstances. You can count on Dr. Smith to truly listen and to craft a personalized treatment plan that fits you—not just your smile.

Since moving to Reno, Nevada in 2019, Dr. Smith has built both his career and his family. He and his wife, Jaycee, share a love of the outdoors and are proud parents to their two dogs, Keiva and Klifford, and their son, Morgan, born in March 2025. In the winter, you’ll likely find the Smiths on the slopes skiing, and in the summer, they’re out camping, hiking, or enjoying lake days as a family.
