nitrous oxide laughing gas
nitrous oxide laughing gas
Nitrous oxide, more commonly known as “laughing gas”, is a great way for patients to come in to the dental office and feel more calm and relaxed during dental treatment. Everyone wants to have a quick and pain-free appointment and nitrous oxide is a great way to accomplish that and put yourself at ease. If you suffer from dental anxiety or medical conditions such as high blood pressure, you may benefit from nitrous oxide during your appointment at Sala Family Dentistry.
Some common questions that I am often asked about nitrous oxide treatment include:
Can I drive after my appointment?
Yes, having nitrous oxide at your appointment does not impair your ability to drive afterward. You will be administered oxygen for at least 5 minutes prior to dismissal from our office so that the nitrous oxide is flushed out of your system.
Do I still need to be numbed?
Yes, we do local anesthetic in addition to the nitrous so that you are comfortable
during treatment.
How much does it cost?
Our office team will review your treatment with you and any additional costs for nitrous oxide treatment at your appointment.
Is it safe?
Yes. If you are not a candidate for nitrous oxide due to your medical history, we
will review concerns with you prior to treatment. The World Health Organization has included nitrous oxide in its WHO Model List of Essential Medicines.
If you have any other questions about nitrous oxide treatment and relaxation dentistry, please contact us and we would be happy to discuss with you in more detail.
